Daykoda – Input feat Clark’s Forest Song Review

Input is the fourth track of Hard Times and View Points, Daykoda‘s debut EP.

With dreamy synths, aethereal voices and extremely groovy beats, Input looks like a real manifesto of Daykoda‘s style. Starting  with an extremely soft mixture of voice-like sample loops the track suddenly finds its shape and develops mystically, heavily relying on an enchanting kick drum groove that perfectly matches and drives the soft melody patterns that lay above it. Even though the hip hop influences on the track are extremely clear, the result is still very experimental and trippy. Everything seems kind of blurred and free of any established musical scheme at the point that many parts of the track appear to detach from canonic western music rules. It’s always lovely to hear artists like Daykoda who are able to overcome boundaries through experimentation and still reach such a seductive musicality.
