In order to be inducted, an artist must be nominated by a committee that selects anywhere from nine to a dozen candidates. The performers that receive the highest number of votes and more than 50 percent of the vote are inducted.
The 2017 inductees will be announced in December. For the first time, the Hall of Fame will honor specific members of each band instead the full lineup: among the five drummers who played in Pearl Jam, only drummer Matt Cameron and founding member Dave Krusen are eligible for induction.
