[Premiere] dragongirl – howls and heartbreaks

The hyped Copenhagen-based Norwegian artist dragongirl (she/they) releases the hard-hitting yet ethereal EP ‘dreamscape dimension’ out June 6th on Norwegian label Sheep Chase Records. The lead singles off the EP have already gained attention from international media outlets like Metal Magazine, angels gun club, Couvre x Chefs, and DMY.

The club-ready EP features gabber-infused trance cuts like ‘chopping mall’ and ‘howls and heartbreaks’ that play with expectations — both to fulfill and surprise — and draw inspiration from EDM and hard house. Like most of dragongirl’s work, the EP balances between nostalgia and the unknown — between melancholy and euphoria. The EP also features the anthem-like euphoric banger ‘everything will b ok’ that features Danish hyperpop vocalist sonic girl, who was named ‘Denmark’s next popstar’ by influential Danish music magazine Soundvenue.

dragongirl (real name Niko Ursin) says about the EP:

“I like to play with expectations and moods, and whether it’s a track, an album or a DJ set, I always have a desire to take the listener on a journey. One of the things that attracts me most about club music is the range of emotions it can cover, and how it can both create and transform a space.”

dragongirl has already received a lot of attention throughout Europe, having played some of the biggest festivals in Scandinavia including Øyafestivalen and By:Larm in Norway. Her notorious DJ sets have made her a frequent guest at Copenhagen’s finest techno club Den Anden Side, and she has appeared several times at Soul Feeder’s parties in Berlin. The project is inherently queer, and constantly works to challenge hierarchies, norms, and entrenched notions. dragongirl is not a dragon, but she is not a girl either; she is in the midst of mutation and in constant evolution, just like her music.
